Patrick McHugh was a residential and commercial builder who started the company in 1984. He was a master craftsman specializing in high-end home construction and multi unit developments.

Sean McHugh

Sean grew up working as an apprentice with his father, Patrick, from age 14. Sean later went to study construction management and started his own career in luxury hotel building and high-end retail. He joined back up with his father to grow the business and harness his education and knowledge in project management. Upon the death of his father, Sean joined with a lifelong friend, Chris Murphy, in McHugh & Son Construction after both studied Construction Management at California State University, Chico. Now they share responsibilities in running the construction company and McHugh & Son to identify promising properties to buy, renovate and sell for profit in the Bay Area.

Sean was instrumental in a $20 million project building 80+ units at the Epiphany hotel in Palo Alto. He also built out many tenant improvement retail stores and restaurants in San Francisco.

Chris Murphy

Chris Murphy joined McHugh & Son in 2020 after spending most of his life in the construction industry. Chris is a fourth generation San Francisco residential and commercial General Contractor. He has a B.S. in Construction Management from California State University, Chico. Prior to joining McHugh, Chris was a project manager for Alten Construction, a leading Bay Area public works commercial General Contractor, for 7 years. He is proficient in multiple construction related software management applications.

Chris and Sean are qualified to run both sides of the business, but each now concentrate on a specific side. Chris oversees project management, estimating and procurement, while Sean concentrates on all construction operations and jobsite supervision.

The two excel at craftsmanship and innovation, with strong client and vendor relationships.
